Water Meal

Post by Linda » Wed Aug 03, 2011 3:57 pm

We are having a horrible problem with water meal which has been washing down to our pond from the one above us. It never use to survive in ours but is now. The whole 3 1/2 acres looks like grass; like you could walk across it. But when we get a nice wind it all blows to one end and you can hardly tell we have the problem. One year we used a chemical that only hurts cat tails but that made us sad and we'd prefer not to do that if possible. We love animals and plants. We just spoke to someone who wants us to spend $15,000.00 plus minue to put an aerating system (4 of them) and then some chemical, Sonar, which is like $2,000.00 a gallon. That is all nuts!!! we think. But we don't know what else to do. We can't afford that. Any suggestions? It is going to kill the fish for sure. Our oxygen level is low.

I passed your question on to Harper's Statuary & Water Gardens (http://www.harperslawnornaments.com/) and here is their response:
Aeration is definitely needed for her oxygen levels but it wont necessarily take care of the issue they're having. We will need to ask her some more specific questions about her pond, as there are a few different routes we can go with this. The prices she had been given are outrageous! If you could get her telephone number and name we will contact her about it, or she can call us here 540-434-8978, and ask for Ron. Thanks
I hope you were able to touch base with them and get your problem taken care of!
