What time of the year is best to split daylillies? What is the best way to do it? Mine have been in for a long time, more than 10 years. Thanks, Donna

Daylilies are one of those perennials that can really be divided at any time of the year except when the soil is overly wet or frozen. Now is a great time. It is better not to divide them after they put up their flower scapes or when they are blooming because you have to cut them back when you divide them and you would be sacrificing the blooms. Here is a detailed description of how to divide daylilies: http://www.viette.com/v.php?pg=512
