Re: reblooming iris
The best time to dig and divide tall bearded and reblooming tall bearded iris is in August or September. If you can't wait until next August or September, dig and divide them soon and you should still be okay. The problem is that they can heave from the ground due to freezing and thawing of the soil if they don't get enough root growth before the ground freezes. You can mulch them after planting to help prevent this but be sure to pull the mulch away from the rhizomes in the spring. They can be divided in spring after the threat of frost but they will probably not bloom that spring. Here is a detailed description with pictures explaining how to divide them: http://www.inthegardenradio.com/v.php?pg=746.
