We just removed a Swamp Maple, and want to plant a new tree on the same spot. We want the tree to shade our house roof, grow fast, be disease resistant, look good, have no messy fruit, be hardy in Rockland County, NY. Our arborist recommended the "Village Green". We checked the computer and found that the Chinese Elm "Ulmus Parvifolia" had a better-looking top. Do you have any comments about both trees? Are they both acceptable ? Thank You.

Both of these trees are wonderful landscape trees. They are both disease resistant and will mature to approximately the same size. The Zelkova is probably a faster growing tree and can grow 3'-4' per year in ideal conditions. I don't think you would go wrong with either of these two trees!
