Fertilizer formula

Post by pegramj » Wed May 02, 2012 8:41 pm

When I visited the nursery several years ago, Mr. Viette gave a talk and recommended a fertilizer mixture which he said was a good general fertilizer. He said to use equal parts of plantone, rock phosphate and green sand and then he said to add osmacote and ironite but I don't know how much of them to add in proportion to the first three ingredients.

These two amendments, Osmocote and Ironite, should be added to the mix according to the directions on the label. There are different formulations so it depends on the one you purchase. The Osmocote can be cut back a bit from the recommended rate because you are already adding Plant-tone but it will release nutrients quicker than the Plant-tone.
