Tropical Hibiscus Diseases

Post by Steve » Mon Nov 22, 2010 6:24 pm

We have a tropical hibiscus that has developed a sticky droplet on the bottom of each leaf at the point where it connects to the stem. Also the leaves are turning yellow, about seven or eight each day. Does anyone know what is causing this. Thank you

This is probably honey dew from scale insects or mealybugs. You can spray the Hibiscus with Espoma Earth-tone Insect Control or an insecticidal soap. Either of these should help control the insect problem which will then stop the production of the honey dew.
