I just found out that leaf drop can be cause by dryness. needs to be moist. not sure how moist is moist thou. I just feed my gardenia with hollytone it is listed on the back of the bag

It may be the soil that you are using. Use a good quality soilless potting mixture consisting of peat, perlite, vermiculite, and even ground pine bark. I found what looks like a fig tree growning in my side planting bed, about 1' tall. I had one 2 yeas ago that died and recently purcahsed a small 1' plant. Would this be a fig tree that had self seeded?
